(Mayberrie poem – re-post from August)
.
And after the blaze, what?
Would they,
like snow on fire
end in vapor
against the starry night?
She stands below his mountaintop
frozen to her ache
and lights a match.

Beautifully succinct mood, Betty!
Thank you, David!
Love “frozen to her ache”.
As for your Liked button problem, have a look on http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/like-button-missing?replies=28
Hi Ben! Thanks, I did check the forums last night and found something pertinent (and recent) – but the topic has been closed. I’ve started a new topic and hope to get some help soon. (My settings haven’t changed, so it’s a WP glitch.)
Love this Betty – the end quite surprised me!
I love the phrase “frozen to her ache”
Much love
Christine xx
Thank you, Christine. Glad you liked!
Dashboard, settings, sharing, tick ” wordpress likes on all posts ” and save.
Nice poem btw
Thanks for the tip, Harry – but something else seems to be the problem. (My settings have always been set for “like” to be turned on.) Checking the forums, it seems others are also having this problem – a WP glitch, and hopefully it’s temporary!
I also loved the “frozen to her ache”…really represents that feeling well.
Thanks for your comment, Charlie
Love this, Betty, and agree with the others about “frozen to her ache.”
Thanks, Lauren!
Oh WOW, Betty–oh wow, oh wow, oh wow!!! Gosh, you know how I love this stuff, how you put me right there! Hope you’re having a good day, my SOS–love, Caddo SOS
Caddo, thank you for all the wow’s!!!
I checked also about the like and it seems they are working on making it better, I’ve no idea how though. What’s better than clicking “like” :-/ Nice poem by the way
Hi Martin, and thanks!
(re: the like button – had to re-set the settings a few times to finally get things working again.)
Ah, so now we can all go “Like(d)”. Wise.
your Mayberrie poems go on and on, creating a world that always dances just out of reach as its language gets under your skin and delights you. Good work, Betty. By the way, I just clicked like, and it seemed to work.
Thank you, Thomas! (This one wasn’t originally included in the Mayberrie series, but I decided it belongs – it’s part of the “story”….)
This poem makes one think of The Little Match Girl
by Hans Christian Andersen…
It’s been such a long time since reading that – I’ll have to refresh my memory.
These are all so enchanting. It feels like you wrote a story that was already there, waiting for your pen to craft! Linda
Linda, thank you!
Hi Betty I was able to click your like button so maybe it is fixed. This poem is sad and beautiful x x x
Wonderful! ‘snow on fire’…’frozen to her ache’…every word perfect!
A truly heart-wrenching yet promising segment of your Mayberrie series. Short and packing a lot of punch!
kindling a spark
