.
Be there in our dreams, oh Love,
be there in our waking,
be there when we dance with joy
and when our hearts are aching.
.
Love, be in the gifts we give
and in those we receive,
be there when the white dove lights
and when he takes his leave.
.
Be there when the tide comes in
and when the tide flows out,
Love be near us in our faith
and nearer when we doubt.
.
Be there when the moon is waxing,
stay close when it wanes,
Love, be in our song’s first measure
and its last refrain.

Oh, Betty! so deceivingly simple, yet SO MANY VOLUMES said here! Yes, we all need every type of love imaginable in EVERY first verse and VERY refrain EVERY day of our lives! Lovely, lovely words to float in my head all week.

Hi Betty
For me this is a beautiful prayer of hope.
I especially feel the line “Love be near us in our faith and nearer when we doubt” I hope it stays near to me because at the moment I am certainly far away. It will pass and I will walk humbly back as I always do.

Hi Christine – I think we all have our doubts at times, and I’m glad you liked the poem. The challenge is in the suffering, but yes, “this too shall pass”…. And I hope you’re feeling better, my friend. Thank you for your comment!

Meditation can lead to many amazingly humbling experiences. It has so many physical, mental and spiritual benefits, it would be stupid to not practice it. Strange how many of us don’t.
Nice post! 🙂
