at the edge of the sea,
one foot in the water
she dances strangely.
One hand in the waves
and one in the dunes,
her head throwing darts
while her heart flies balloons
so she spins in the wind
till her words are a blur
and all she can write
is something obscure.

Betty, I love this! This muse of yours sounds like a delightful 10 year old… all over the place, leaving you breathless and in a blur.

Steven, thank you – the muses do love to play – and laugh! 🙂

Hi Betty! “Something obscure’ is something lyrical and layered. Lovely! One of my favorite lines:
‘while her heart flies balloons’
I like the idea of the heart lifting effortlessly, even floating away, no strings attached!

Thanks, Bardess – you’re right, it would be nice to just float above the chaos once in awhile! 🙂

Oh this is good, again (and I like the photo, too)–“her head throwing darts while her heart flies balloons” particularly speaks to me, and then the rest which follows to “obscure”. I really try not to be deliberately obscure, but sometimes it falls out that way….what are ya gonna do?

Hi Caddo, thanks for your comment! I went through an “obscure” phase in the early 90’s and realized it wasn’t the way I wanted to communicate. Some poems will still seem that way, but nowadays I prefer a little ambiguity instead, as that’s how life often is – ambiguous! 🙂

It looks like almost everyone’s muses are related, David. Guess that makes us all family. 🙂
