(from 1983)
.
with waves of passion
and watch bewildered
when nothing smatters.
.
You try again
with swells of poetry.
This time I crumble
over the beach
and you etch your name
in the sand.

Yes, Betty, guys who wrote me poems used to smash my heart all over the place, as well. Wow, you wrote this 29 years ago? I have said before that you were very developed as a poet at an early age!

Granbee, so true, the power in a guy’s poetry – what can we say?
Let’s see… 29 years ago I was 36 – that does seem like “an early age” now – but it didn’t then. 🙂 Thank you for the nice words!

Betty! I get this, cause I have been both the beach and the bitch in this poem. I have been the stick and the sand. And though the best we can hope from such a crash course in love making is that both parties retreat unscathed, I know this is never true.
