He shells those dreams
that rub us raw
secreting love
around torn edges
polishing
with his own tears
the pearls of poetry.

To think of God coating those rough grains in our lives with His tears to make us produce pearls of poetry–WOW0EEEEE! Betty, this is just prize-winning, in my book!

Granbee, thanks for sharing your interpretation of this one – especially if it means a prize! 🙂 (Does that mean I win something in chocolate?)

We are all just stone being molded into pearls. The bad times we have in our lives should be seen as being formed into what we ought to become. Nice poem.

I like this, Betty, but to me it is tinged with a sadness, it has a darkness to it that I can’t quite put my finger on ~ am I thinking this right, Betty?

You ARE thinking it right, Martin…. a pearl is always formed around something that hurts or frustrates… and though the pearl might be beautiful (and more “comfortable”), there is still that grain of sadness deep in its center….

Hi Betty–I’m with Granbee on this one! It’s in serious competition with my favorites of yours–but hey, who makes the rules? I can have more than one fave if I want–I have privilege, esteem, as your sister of the sea! God bless you today, and always.

Thank you, Caddo! I agree – we can have more than one “fave”, and I have many favorites of yours too. 🙂

This is a real pearler Betty (some Aussie slang for you to google) 🙂

Okay – google says “pearler” = “good or great” – cool expression, thank you for that! 🙂

There are so many amazing metaphors that pearls provide, but I would labor long to unfold them, and you do it so easily and beautifully! Wonderful work, Betty!
