.
Deep in the folds
of the flannel of night
we hear the drums call
ba ba bum, ba ba boom
Our eyes open wide
as we chew through the shackles
and dance the light free,
ba ba bum, ba ba boom
Up the spiral we climb,
our candles held high
to shatter the gloom,
ba ba bum, ba ba boom
At the top we leap clear
of gravity’s hold
on the edge of our words,
ba ba bum, ba ba boom
We land on the sun
where we tear off the masks
and meet our true selves –
Ba Ba Bum, Ba Ba Boom !

Fabulous poem Betty! And the metaphors as wonderful as ever. The first two lines got me straight away!
Through trials and tribulations as they say, I think I am at last finding my true self. The mask is torn off and it feels good.
I hope you are much better, it’s so good to see you posting in a prolific way again. I am back on WP now but not as much as I would like as I shouldnt be typing but it has driven me mad being away and as nothing seems to be working for the pain in my hand I am typing through it just enough to stay in the loop.
Lots of love

Christine, thank you – I appreciated your comment so much – especially since you were writing through the pain in your hand. Your words mean a lot to me, and I hope you’re having a good week so far. Take care of yourself!
(Have you ever tried using some arnica cream on your hand – and any other areas of pain? It helps me – along with acupuncture. Sometimes alternative medicine combined with “traditional” has better results than just one or the other. “Whatever works” – my motto! 🙂 )

Hi Betty
I will give the arnica a go thank you! I have already been down the acupuncture path to no avail I am afraid but I didn’t really connect with the person doing it so I may try again an a while.
You take care too
Lots of love

Something tribal about this, Betty.

Thanks for hearing the tribal in this, Ben – it came from that primal place. The shaman discovering his own essence, perhaps… (peeling off those masks again…)
