Since this is a deep water poem, we should not be surprised that there is this diaphanous sense of hope that hints at a story that we think we must know. All of your readers swim well in this water, Betty, or they give up on your poetry. There is beauty and love in the world, and we all shall reach that world some day in a faraway place where there are kings and armies and magic that enlivens birds with speech.
