(just another oldie – revised)
.
.
.
Her roots are caught
in rock-bound earth
but her dreams coil up
the weathered trunk
of an old elm tree.
Higher,
yet higher
they weave through branches
seeking the sun
till finally one dawn
they burst from containment
calling the name
of a lover in flight
on the edges
of all that could be.

Poison ivy does this too! 🙂

Luckily this particular ivy (in the poem) is an innocent English ivy. 🙂

Gorgeous thought…well hadn’t considered the poison ivy viewpoint. 🙂

Thank you, Charlie! (No poison in this ivy – I hadn’t thought of that either.)

Hmmmm – how were you able to “like” a comment? (Thank you, BTW! 🙂 ) Is that a new feature on WP? I don’t see it on my blog.

Top right, next to “New Post”. There is a list of recent Likes and Comments. (But only the most 9.) Click on the relevant Comment and you will see there’s a place to click Like. Useful if you don’t need to reply (further) but want to let the person know you have read it.

I see you have learned to “Like” a comment. 🙂 and, of course, my thanks. I still owe you an e-mail too and, to my shame, you are not the only one. 😳

No worries – I too am behind on emails, reading blogs, and everything else! Thanks again for pointing out this new “like” feature. I LIKE it. 🙂

It is so easy to be overwhelmed by the plenitude. I sometime wonder when enough is enough and whether abundance is not in fact our greatest foe.

You’re right – even when we focus on quality rather than quantity it’s still hard to keep up!

I traveled up with the ivy, Betty, meandering, seeking, fulfilling. Just lovely. Hope you are well, my friend. XO ♥
