Was that the moon
or just a mood
that crawled across the sun?
For awhile
it seemed the day
had lost its way
leaving just
the steaming edges
of its magnitude.
But all things pass
and so this too
that shadow-stealing
interlude,
we’re warm again
the sky is blue,
the sun
was just in need
of a little Sol i tude.

(Hopefully many of you will get to witness the solar eclipse tomorrow as it crosses the U.S. It’ll be at 98% totality from here in SW Washington. Can’t wait!)

(revision of 2012 poem “Eclipse”)
Beautiful, and it’s a great perspective of the eclipse!

Thank you, W.E. 🙂 (I’m hoping we’ll have clear skies for it tomorrow.)

Thank you! I’m sorry you won’t see it. At least we know there’ll always be others. (No doubt there’ll be a LOT of photos taken of this one…)

Nicely done, especially that creative toying with words there at the end!

Nice one Betty! Captures it beautifully- and, as James said, like the ending!
Unfortunately, the eclipse not visible to us here in SA but, as you say, there will be others! 😊
Enjoy the wolf eating the sun and watch out for flaming arrows! 😁😁

Thanks Rob! (Wolf had a good meal, all the bees disappeared, but no flaming arrows, darn. 😊 )

Solar lunacy?
No, it’s simply time for a

I like that – Cosmic do-si-do!
Sun and moon had their little dance and a surreal time was had by all. 😊😆 (Even though we didn’t see the totality here it was fascinating.)

Needed something to take our minds off the bad stuff going on in the world…. even if just for a short time. So many others I’ve heard from found it transcendent. Now if that feeling of upliftment would last.

This is a beautiful 💜 we will not get to see anything here as the sky is gray and cloudy. 💜💜

Thanks, Willow. Sorry you didn’t get to see any of it there. It was really eerie (even though we didn’t see the totality). It grew darkish, cold, and all the bees that had been out in the clover disappeared back to their hives. (They’re back in the clover now though. 🐝🍀🐝☘️🐝🍀🐝 )

We managed to see the total eclipse in 2011, it was spectacular then so can’t complain. 🌹💜

That must’ve been wonderful seeing the total eclipse. I figure we should all see it at least once in a lifetime. Am hoping someday…

Yes, I think well, the miracle is that the sun does this every single day – emerges from the darkness of night to spread its light like butter over an entire dayscape! Aloha, Betty. Happy viewing!

Indeed it does! (Synchronicity – I have an old poem with that image about the sun spreading itself like butter across the land. Great minds! 😉 )
Nothing quite like an eclipse though – stirs up new, fresh perspectives in more ways than one. Something primordial….

Nice. I actually wrote a poem with the prompt ‘butter’ just the same way a few months back 😉 xo

I couldn’t lay my eyes on that particular poem, but when I come across it, I will share with you Betty. I published another butter post here on wp, but not the sky spreading with sunlight one – at least that I can find right now. Busy days, these 😉

Thanks Bela. Busy days here too and getting behind on WP. Hoping to catch up soon.
Happy Tuesday! 🌸💕

Our totality was at 99.5% Crazy good. What a cool event. You poem is fantastic, Betty.

Thank you, Audrey. That must’ve been awesome at 99.5%! My older son went down the Oregon coast to see the totality and he says it was even more amazing than he imagined. Would love to see that someday.

I’ve heard from many people today about their experience and what I’ve concluded is that no matter where we all were it was a fantastic gift.

I wasn’t going to post anything on the eclipse but did in the end. I love your poem here Betty. Really, the day turned out to be quite nice…don’t you think? 🙂

Yes, it was perfect weather for an eclipse here. We got lucky! Thanks for your nice comment and I’ll look for your poem. Am suddenly way behind on reading blogs, hoping to catch up with you and everyone soon! 🌹

I seem to never catch up but just keep trying. I am sure it will be fine. Sometimes my chronically being tired due to the blood thinners I am on is such that I have to wait for a really good amount of sleep and a very good day and then I spend a whole day doing things I haven’t the energy for. Lol I do get things done eventually but it takes awhile. One way I have found of keeping caught up on the blogs I follow most is to have new posts from them come to my email. I then go through the email and go to each site as they come. Of course, I can’t do that with all sites as I would have too many emails but it helps some. Hope you are doing well. 🙂

Renee, it sounds like we have a lot in common, energy-wise. Different reason here (CFS and fibromyalgia). It does make it even harder to keep up when our reserves are low.
I too get emails for new posts from blogs I follow which does make it easier to keep track. But alas, some days it’s overwhelming opening up my email. And yet I love it all and don’t want to miss anything. 🙂
Hope you’re feeling as well as possible these days. Thank you for being there! 🌸💕

How life brings us into another one’s path where so much is the same, I too have CFS and fibromyalgia and had those before my heart surgery so the blood thinners just make me even more tire than before. But having a life of tired I have gotten somewhat use to it so have adjusted as best I can. The heart valve keeps me alive but I have to have the blood thinner so the valve works well. But I am here to see my grandbabies so that is good. I understand how you feel. I have not often met someone who has the same things….not that that is how I would like to connect…but all the same it is alright. I so enjoy your site and am happy our paths have crossed. Worn out today. My daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter and her two girls took me on an outing with lots of walking. I enjoyed the day but am worn out now. Hopefully tomorrow will be better as it is my 65th BD for which they took me on the outing for. Be well. 🙂

Renee, happy 65th birthday! What a coincidence that we have the same maladies. I seldom find anyone else who has CFS and fibromyalgia either. No one can relate. My older son and his wife and their sweet baby were here today for only a couple hours and I’m exhausted, so I understand how tired you are. (Do you also have chronic back pain and TMJ?)
Sorry you’ve had to go through getting the heart valve but glad it’s keeping you alive! And that we’ve met here. We live in the same state – too bad we can’t get together – if we had the energy. It’s ironic. (I forget what area you’re in.)
Take care, and hope you sleep well tonight. (I know – that’s another challenge!) 🌼🌸

I don’t have TMJ but my sister does so glad that is not a problem. I do have back pain but not so bad as it use to be since I sold my home and no longer do projects. I have a disc issue between my shoulder blades but just try to not do too much. I am in Tacoma and yes I don’t ever sleep very well unless I am beyond the exhaustion point….whatever that is. Take care! 🙂

Glad you don’t have TMJ but sorry your sister does. There was a wonderful doctor helping me in Seattle (a naturopath) but then insurance wouldn’t cover the treatment plus we moved down here. But if you could get up to north Seattle I highly recommend him. Dr. Paul Anderson.
We’re about 95 miles south of you, near the Columbia River. Really do miss the Seattle area but cost of living there has gone sky high.
Anyway, take care of yourself and enjoy this continuing beautiful weather! 🌸💕

My sister lives in CA but thank you for the information. I passed through that area when I went to visit my son in Eastern Washington in June. He and his wife bought a house there in Ritzville, a small town, but busy with a grainery and train going through often. The drive was wearing but it was such a nice visit and beautiful countryside. Reminded me of parts of CA where I was born and raised. 🙂

Next time you go to visit your son you’d be welcome to stop by here. We’re close to the freeway and it makes a good rest stop for our friends and family. 🙂
That doctor is a CFS/fibro specialist, BTW, not TMJ. Sorry for the confusion. But I know it’d be a long way from Tacoma. Traffic is awful. (That’s another thing we don’t miss!)
Hope you have a good night! 🙂
