.
She stifled her passion
with a bone cork
and Earth became
a rocking jug
with aching sides
and tears that leaked
through cracks
and there was naught
but a dry brown light
across the sky.
.
The gods looked down
and cursed.
They pulled loose the plug
and ground it to dust
with flying fists
until Earth trembled
and roared
its mountainous heat
into the sky
in a billowing boundless fount
of love un-damned.

It would take such actions from the gods to fill this earth it would seem with such love.

You are most welcome, Betty.
btw, WordPress gave mt my blog back because the muppet-guru’s fake claims to copyrights of my photos had no merit when WordPress investigated the matter.

Glad you felt the “sizzling”! Funny, that was one of the adjectives I almost used in one of the last lines. Thank you for liking it. 🙂

How we need to grind those plugs to dust – this reminds me so much of a bereaved lady I worked with. She was so proper being the sorrowful widow everyone expected her to be. (I love the ‘dry brown light across the sky’!) She knew she was dead until one day she smashed up her kitchen, shocked and frightened everyone including herself but she started living again from that day.

Wow, poor woman. Glad she was able to break through her stoic shell and start living again! Thank you so much for your comment.

me too, got more fencing up today, one more section to go, couldn’t find concrete in the ground or the rest of the post…most likely why that huge section fell down. rotted away. But we’ll put it in right and it will be good. One tree to take down but will get to that in the next few days. Was supposed to work today but so few customers and can’t take credit cards so they’re closing early. No work for me today, woo hoo (an awesome thing)

Storm cleanup can be an almost spiritual experience… And cathartic after such a severe one, no doubt!

I love this. After the third read, I still feel as though this speaks to the loss of the feminine consciousness/matriarchy (she stifled her passion), and what is left in its wake is for the gods to decide/fight over – and that imbalance speaks of destruction. Anyhow, whether you ‘meant’ it this way or not, well written. Aloha and love ❤

Thanks for your comment, Bela! The poem has several layers and that’s very close to one of them. The gods are angry because she’s bottling up her love. That’s all I’ll say, since I do love to hear different reactions from those who read it. Am very pleased it speaks to you!
Aloha and love back to you, dear Bela. 💕

Fortunate are we for whom the plug is pulled on the rocking jug, a golden fountain bursting forth!
A powerful poem, Betty – love it.
