Pour it
through your fingers
taste its color
on your tongue
be it raw, or breaded
with salty metaphor.

Take its temperature
on your forehead
then weigh it tenderly
careful
not to put your thumb
on the scale.

Should it be feverish with senses or soothing with composure?

I’ll have to check with my muse on that. 🙂 Probably either/or.

Or both.

That was going to be my next answer. 😉

Thanks, Renee. Wrote this in my head, middle of the night last night. This was all I could remember. Need to start keeping a flashlight, pen and pad next to the bed. 🙂
Hope you’re staying warm up there! (It’s close to freezing here again.)

It’s a good idea Betty. I always have a small book of blank lines pages by my bed in the event I think of something. It has been foggy all day here and this morning the ground was covered with its’ first frost. Keep warm!

Will have to get one of those pens with the little light on it.
Sunny here today but like there, really frosty this morning. Winter is here! 🙂

Love this, Betty, and the ending is perfect! I read how you created this in the middle of the night. I’ve done that before and still don’t have a pen and paper by the bed. It’s brave to rely on memory alone. 🙂 I’m glad you remembered this, though. Love and hugs! 💖

Thanks, Lauren! Yes, really frustratingly to lose poems not written down immediately. Was lucky to salvage part of this one (mainly the ending.) Happy Monday! ❤️❤️
