.
from the calendar –
seconds, minutes lost.
They steal away
into the fog
and freeze to winter’s frost.
.
I close my eyes
and there’s an hour
missing from the day.
It turned into
a floppy kite
and spring blew it away.
.
Dripping
through my fingers
another day has gone,
evaporated
yesterday
from summer’s placid pond.
.
And soon a year
has fallen
bright confetti on the ground
and I wonder
if we’ll ever have
the time to just slow down.

Perhaps it’s better just to enjoy the day without looking at the clock. Wonderful poem about discovering what is most meaningful.

I agree with you about just enjoying the day, Sharon. Thank you so much for reading!

Ah…we must be aware of time and relish each moment to slow it down…so we may view all the beauty around us.

Some great lines like ‘bright confetti on the ground’. It seems we never do have the time to take the time, that’s the pity of it. You express this so beautifully.

Yes, that’s the pity of it. Time might be just an illusion but it certainly is a fast moving one! Thank you muchly for the nice comment. š

Time just to slow down – my dream as well. Thanks for a poem to remind me how little I get done for all the haste in my life.

It seems to be the curse of modern civilization – watching the clock.
I think you’re accomplishing a lot with your time, Sharon. Your wonderful writing, and all that you do for others – that’s everything! š

O, and then the balloon man spun around and stars exploded like confetti and celebration rained from a sky so filled with sun and joy and truth and hope that hearts beat in the unison that is the universe. O, Betty!
