.
Rivers run
they do not walk
they crest a dam
and do not talk
while smoothing rocks
and rocking banks
in curving stones
and filling lakes
with bubbled lights
and gillied fishes
feeding wells
and granting wishes
silver curved
pastoral scenes
in flows of bold
through forest greens
and wearing blue
lent from the sky
where falling water
dragons fly
in grassy hair
and clover pops,
through sunny glare
and mossy tops
the
river
knows
its way.

This has a wonderful movement. All bodies of water seem to be good for wishing…(K)

Hadn’t thought of that before, Kerfe, but you’re right. It seems instinctive. Maybe it’s because we humans are also “bodies of water”.

That’s true, and that may be it.

For some reason this second comment of yours went into my spam folder. WP is certainly quirky these days. Thank you again, Kerfe. 🙂

Yes, it’s having its moments these days. Many more than usual it seems.

Yes, like dropping both followers and those I’m following. Have missed a lot of posts because of that. I’m afraid they’re gradually trying to make WP more like FB with more bells and whistles we don’t need. Hopefully they don’t ruin it.

I have that problem too. It would be a shame if they emulated Facebook, that’s for sure!

This is a delightful poem, reminding me of all the little streams I’ve crossed when hiking. The movement of water commands me to get involved – jump in, wade through, trail my fingers or toes. You’ve captured all of it here.

Sharon, I’m happy it brought back those memories! I have the same kind from years ago. 🙂 Thanks so much for your comment.

A veritable river of a poem that flows as pleasantly as its subject. There is life in everything it seems, somehow, from rivers to fine poetry.

This has a magical flow to it, Betty, and evokes precious memories of all the rivers we’ve swam in while camping with the kids when they were little. I’m glad you’re re-posting these wonderful poems. Hugs! xoxo
