.
If you were an ivy vine
would you spread
across the foothills,
wind your way
through sharp pitched mountains
curling ’round
the fallen log
where it bridges the muddy slough?
.
Would you wend your way
around deep lakes and
through the tangled valleys
to the stand of trees
where you’d remember me?
.
And would you wrap
around my trunk and
spiral through my branches
as you followed every curve
to the top
where we both
could touch the sky?
.
And at noon
when you felt
the warm lips
of the sun
upon your leaves
would you sink
your comely roots
into my bark?
I think you’d grow on me.

Awesome is great! (I too run out of new, creative things to say in comments! But I think we all appreciate the positive responses, no matter how often they’re repeated. 😁💕 )

That’s so kind of you to say! (It’s not a new one though… am still suffering from writer’s block. Augh!)

I never worry about writers’ block: I follow the example of the many poetasters on the web who write any rubbish they want and post it every day. The art is in the SELECTION, for me.

Hope you are well Betty. I have been reading your wonderful posts although too busy to write yet on my own site. I finally got moved and two weeks after (this last weekend) helped my daughter some on her own move into her first home. At the age of 41 she is very happy and is deserving of this and more. Getting settled in now and this apartment does seem to be much better than the last in a small gated community of only 43 units. Moving always takes a toll so trying to recoup before I begin writing again.

Renee, it’s good to see you! I’ve been thinking of you, wondering how your move went. So glad you’re settling in and that you like your new home! Also good to hear that your daughter is happily in her new home.
Will look forward to when you start posting again. Thank you for continuing to read mine. Hope you’re feeling as well as possible and getting rested up! 🙂

Hi Betty,
Moves are never easy and this one was very tiring and painful but I always just move forward for it is what I needed to do.
Much quieter here and a nicer apartment, although I am paying more for it. The price for rent is exorbitant for anything decent and a shame for older people who are on SSI with little retirement coming in, such as myself. It isn’t any wonder so many older people end up with nothing or worse.
But, yes my daughter is happy with her first purchased home. She is my daughter who has Lupus and has been ill much of her life and deserves to have her home…finally.
It is further away to drive so won’t see her and my grand babies as much but I will go as she, more than likely, will not be well enough to drive so far…at least not by herself.
I do hope you are well. The sun came out today so I was happy about that. Coming from CA, originally, I will always be someone who needs the sun. 🙂
Do take care. Yes, I am resting a lot.

I know how exhausting moves are. And painful! Sounds like you have a really nice place, which makes it worth it! I know how expensive it is to live in the Pacific Northwest these days – that’s why we ended up down here. It’s a depressed area but other retirees are discovering it, so that should boost the economy eventually. And then I suppose it’ll become expensive here too. Alas! Not fair….
Anyway, hope you and your daughter both recover quickly from your respective moves – and stay as well as possible. Think sunshine! 😊

Thank you Betty and yes everything seems to be moving toward ‘more’ in the way of money. We are recovering and I haven’t been out to her place again yet but she sends me pics of the girls. Yea Sun!!! 🙂

Thank you, Lauren! First time I posted it might’ve been before we followed each other. No doubt I missed a lot of yours from the past. Hoping to someday get caught up with the past. 😊
Hope you’re having a good week so far! Looking for warm sunshine tomorrow. 🌻🤗❤️

I love this.. I have an ivy vine that has for years grown over and in between an evergreen fur tree, which we keep pruned to a certain height. Its flowers and berries are a great source of nutrition and nectar to insects when there are no other things growing..
🙂 Your poem so reflects how it entwines itself between branches..
Loved it.. ❤

Thank you, Sue. 🙂 I’d love to see a picture of your tree with the ivy growing in it. The wild ivy we have here doesn’t have flowers or berries, but then there are so many kinds. Yours sounds lovely!

I will have to take a photo of the berries for you it’s now all part of the tree and gives extra cover for shelter and nesting birds.😊

Hope you’re having a beautiful weekend too, Sue. Just caught up on back posts of yours. As I said in a comment on your blog, it seems I’m no longer receiving emails of your posts! This keeps happening with others on WP and it’s frustrating. (You aren’t showing up in my reader either.) Will hopefully not miss any more of your posts!
Thank you so much for posting the ivy photo!! More beauty. 😍💕
