Sunlight shrinks away
behind the thin of poplar trees,
spiders throw red shadows
in the paths of tired bees,
spells of a waxing moon are cast
and dragonflies change speed
with just a touch of madness
as summer goes to seed.

You captured me with this description of summer. Actually, you captured me, as I’m an aging Virgo, fast going to seed.

Belated happy birthday to you, Sharon – though I know this was a poignant one for you. Thank you so much for your comment. (I’m going to seed these days too, lol.)

Really like this Betty. Are you indeed a Virgo? I just had my BD August 27th so just wondered. Hope you are well.

Thank you, Willow. It’s definitely here too, though the leaves are just barely starting to change. Cooler, cloudier, shorter days though! πππ₯πβ€οΈπ

That “touch of madness” is just right for the last days of summer.

Thank you, Ken – glad you agree. There’s just something almost frantic in the atmosphere this time of year. Or maybe it’s just me. π

I enjoyed this visual delight of words dear Betty.. Indeed Summer is now going to seed.. And that is exactly what I have been doing today,, Collecting seed pods off flowers to save to sow next year.. π
Beautiful poem. π

Revision and repost both well worthy, Betty. A welcome moment of Summer as Winter comes upon us. One time when being so behindhand in my reading works well. π

Glad the timing worked out that way for your reading. I’m most happy to hear from you, always. π
