.
Deep in the folds
of the flannel of night
we hear the drums call –
.
ba ba boom.
.
Our eyes open wide
as we chew through the shackles
and dance ourselves free –
.
ba ba boom.
.
Up the spiral we climb,
our candles held high
to shatter the gloom –
.
ba ba boom.
.
At the top we leap clear
of gravity’s hold
on the weight of our words –
.
ba ba boom.
.
We land on the sun
where we tear off our masks
and meet our true Selves –
.
Ba Ba Boom, Ba Ba Boom!
.

I’ve got shivers – after what happened this morning, this gives me a little hope.
You are an outstanding poet and a woman of great heart. Thanks, Betty, for wisdom in the darkness.

I also got shivers, Betty. What an amazing poem that offers hope even though darkness extends its stay. I agree with Sharon, too, in saying that you are an outstanding poet! ❤❤❤

Hypnotic and uplifting. I wonder if the rhythm of that drumbeat has any special meaning…

I’ve just read this poem again, the horror of October 27 pressing against my heart and the fear of facing the next madness drumming in my head. Ba Ba Boom.

Sharon, this latest horror on Saturday was just crushing. I don’t know how much more the people of this country can take. And the rhetoric that fuels this madness only gets worse.
Joining hands in spirit with you, and all kindred souls – that we can turn things around. Thank you for reading this again.
(Sorry I’m behind reading blogs – hoping to gradually catch up soon.)

I don’t track other readers and commenters as I usually binge blog on a few blogs a day rather than read 100 blogs every day.
