.
Crystal rings
under my soapy finger
like the singing bowls,
and the ribbon
of the flute.
.
I follow to the Bodhi tree,
to the circles of Dante,
to Mary Magdalene
and her Lover,
to a footprint in the desert,
.
and there, the chalice of Socrates,
Blake’s grain of sand,
a whirling Dervish,
the hem of a robe.
.
It is all there —
even Gaia herself
is not tethered.
.
Master, Master,
there are no words
on this journey,
no words at all –
hush, my Beloved,
hush.
.

So your muse has not abandoned you at all. Quite the reverse. 🙂

First poem of the year, finally. One of those that writes itself. Hopefully not just a fly by. 😊 Thank you, Ben.

I love the flow of this poem, Betty.
With its mystical charm and oriental flavour, ‘Journey’ recalls for me the Swinging-60s hippy quest for spiritual enlightenment exemplified by the Beatles in India, practising transcendental meditation with the Maharishi Yogi. Gosh, quite another world wasn’t it?!
A beautiful poem to read, re-read and muse over.
My very best,
Take care,
Paul

Thank you, Paul! I’m glad you liked this, and it’s interesting that it brought to mind the 60’s…. I hadn’t thought of that, but you’re right. (I practiced Transcendental Meditation myself, but not until the 70’s. I thank George Harrison for inspiring many in our generation. I still meditate, but not with a mantra.)
It’s always good to hear from you. You take care also!

This poem has such a joyful synergy. The mystical cores of the world’s religions are so similar, in their symbolism especially.

No words, but plenty of vivid images…of course I like the spiral dance of it. (K)

Nicely done. I had to read it several times before I really grokked the meaning. Or understood it enough to embrace it as a whole. Peace, Betty. I have been away from WP for awhile so trying to catch up. Love ❤️

Thanks, Bela! Sorry it’s a little obscure. It all came to me in a rush and I didn’t change it much from the original draft.
Understood about being away from WP. Seems I’m always in catch up mode.
Sending a hug 🤗💕
