The poetess opens
like a book
bound in silk
with florets in the margins
and gold-edged pages turning
.
and turning
with every breath
of the Muse
reading over
her shoulder.

I really like this poem, Betty. My own muse needs to nudge me a bit more while watching. A really lovely poem about a poet’s relation to their muse. Hope you are warming up there. We have had a couple of days around 50 and it is nice and although quite cold yet I believe it is getting there.

Thank you, Renee – I know what you mean about muse-nudging. 🙂 Regarding the weather, we’re having some days in the low 50’s now, but still in mid 20’s at night. At least it’s beautiful and bright with all this sunshine 🌞. Hope you’re staying warm and having lots of good days! I’m thinking of you as you prepare for your move.

Thank you, Sarah! I’m really glad you liked it. (I wasn’t sure about using the old-fashioned word “poetess”, but I was going for something feminine and decided what-the-heck. 😊)

Oh that muse, hovering over your shoulder, hounding you to get the imagery in your sights, to hone the perfect phrases. She never lets us rest – but then, the prize at the end – a celebration in gold and flowers.
Really like this one, Betty.

Beautiful Betty, Sometimes the words just flow and bloom.. and the rewards are the colours the poetess plants within minds..
Love and Blessings my friend another wonderful muse. ❤ Enjoy your week ahead ❤

I like “poetess”, but then you know I’m old-fashioned — nice one Betty!

Thanks, Dennis! I’m a bit old-fashioned too at times. 😊
