After the freeze
a silent sun
draws ice to vapor
skipping the melt

Just the headlines
please.
I don’t watch
the news

Nowadays it has become so difficult to watch the news.
Rather read lovely poetry like this.
Happy Monday.

I would certainly call this more than a scribble, Betty. Sometimes a spur of the moment write can be wonderful and this is!

Thanks Willow. We need to know what’s going on but sometimes it gets just too agonizing. 😬💙

I find reading a better task than watching the news – tho I watch as well. Like a sore tooth that I constantly probe with my tongue, exacerbating the pain. And yet, why? Next time, I’ll re-read this poem and imagine the work of our silent sun.

Great analogy – the tongue’s obsessive probing of a sore tooth! The constantly breaking news draws us in. I’ve had to resist the urge to check it constantly, though I must watch Rachel Maddow every evening.

So subtle. It seems the news these days only makes it clear what isn’t happening yet.

Indeed…. though sometimes I need to tune in just to see what’s happening. Keeping my “shield” up though. 💗💗

I know exactly what you mean Betty, and I am tuning out of the world far more than I am connecting to it these days.. Always we need a Shield.. ❤

I don’t either. We can choose our reality far more skillfully than that. 💗
