On waves of teal sea-shine
we catch a glossy ride
to chase our lost horizons
and race the rising tide.
.
We lean to gather white-caps
and taste their salty plumes
till purple weaves a blanket
and wraps us ’round the moon.

A lovely poem, Betty. I hope you are not having difficulty with any smoke that might come your way. Take care.

Thanks, Renee. We’re managing with the smoke okay but hoping it lifts soon. Have conditions improved any where you are?

Conditions remain the same but they are saying, now, by the end of tomorrow we should see clearing. After a week of it I’m ready for some clean air. Do take care.

You too, Renee. It’s actually worse today than ever. Crossing fingers for tomorrow.

Oh dear –are you near the fires?

Kim, none of the many fires are close but smoke is thick everywhere over here on the west coast. We can’t stand to go outside….haven’t seen the sun in a week. Hopefully relief will come tomorrow!

I’m not at all sure of where you are! Hopefully your air clears soon….

Kim, we’re on the west coast of the U.S. in Washington State. California and Oregon to the south of us have the worst of the deadly wildfires. We’re getting the smoke from their fires plus fires of our own to the east of us. This is all so unprecedented…. and caused by global warming….alas. And we have “leaders” in our government who deny science – who believe climate change is a political hoax. It’s all so maddening and disgraceful. I heard yesterday that even California’s ancient redwood forests were on fire. Augh!! Heartbreaking….

This one got me grinning. Don’t know why. Just a spontaneous response. An agreeable feeling. So thank you.

This is beautiful and makes me feel like singing, Betty. π I read your comment to Kim and you said it well. Even our governor stated a while back that if you don’t believe in climate change, come to California. It’s stunningly amazing how some are so ignorant or brainwashed, not sure which one is correct. We’re ready to move out of CA and had our sights on OR or WA, but now with the fires, we’re thinking of Montana! LOL I really don’t know, but we don’t plan to stay in this state forever. Anyway, our sky is much better, but now the fog is thick. I’m looking out my window and it’s super soupy outside. π Hope you have a good day in spite of the smoke. Hugs! xoxox

Sorry I didn’t reply to your comment earlier, Lauren. Am glad you liked the poem!
As for moving, I know what you mean. Is there any state that doesn’t have problems anymore? My son and family are thinking of moving to Arizona and they want us to move too. But we couldn’t take the heat, and they have fires too. Alas!
Any rain in sight there yet? We’re finally getting our fill.
Hugs back π

Don’t even worry about it, Betty, seriously. π I think we’ve been playing the same game as you…which state has no natural disasters? My daughter and her hubby will be in TN for at least another year, and our son is moving out early next year. He has his sights on DC. So, with both across the country, there will be more tears shed in my house. π¦ But of course we want them to fly! Neither of us want to retire in either of those places. Ugh! No rain here, but we went to our fave park yesterday only a quick drive away and it was misty and lightly raining among the redwoods. It was heavenly. Enjoy! ππ

Lauren, glad you found some misty rain among the redwoods over the weekend. Sounds lovely!
And yes, it’s hard when kids move so far away…. glad we have high tech communication these days!
Hope you have a good week, my friend. π
