I love chickadees. I hope the cat turned a blind eye…so to speak. Hope you are well.

Yes, chickadee was safe. 😊 I love them too.
Hope you’re well too, Renee. Thank you for stopping by.

Cats see everything…probably wondered if you’d stop her from pursuing the chickadee. 🙂

Luckily, old cat didn’t have the energy for anything but a daydream. 🙂

Lovely pic and haiku, Betty. But I hope Old Cat wasn’t licking his lips at the sight of that chickadee. I’m a member of the RSPB – the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds!
My very best,
Paul

Thank you, Paul! Glad to hear you’re a protector of birds there. Not to worry about Old Cat — I think he’s become too lazy to hunt. He just daydreams. 🙂
Best regards to you and yours,
Betty

Bet old cat was dreaming of catching the chickadee…..

He no doubt was daydreaming, at least. ☺ Fortunately too lazy and well fed to go hunting.

Charming! We call them ‘tits’ over here – no, really! There’s even a species call Great Tit [Supply gag here].

I believe you. 😄 We have “bush tits” over here but they’re a smaller bird, not the same as chickadees.

Those wings may provide timely escape.
(As I survey the ongoing Operation Coro… and my own gradually dwindling physical substance I can gratefully resonate.
Nice words and image BTW. 💖

Oops. I just noticed that the ‘N’ that should be opening the second sentence with ‘Nice’ ran off and attached it to the ‘I’ that should be preceding ‘I’ – ‘can gratefully resonate. Seems like my mind is gradually fading too. 😕

I knew what you were saying. 🙂 Will make the corrections when I get into my PC later. (Easier than using my phone app.)
And I doubt very much your mind will ever fade! 😃

And having seen both of you, how would the occurrence for the cat differ from yours, the writer?
Loved the thought.

Good question! The occurence differed because I didn’t see the cat watching us until I turned to go back into the house and spotted the cat on the deck watching us. To be completely accurate I should probably have written this piece in past tense.
Thanks so much for reading this poem, Shakti. I appreciate the question. 🙂

Now I wonder what the old cat will do. I’ve got an image in my head of the following its intuitive impulse to pounce but its laziness deciding to let this chickadee go. What a dilemma – for the cat.

Your image of the old cat was right. He’s a stray, appears to have arthritis. We and other neighbors feed him, along with several other strays and ferals, and provide outdoor places to sleep. No one’s ever been able to catch any of them. Oddly enough they all get along with each other. Humans could learn something from this little feline community.
