My home has always been the Pacific Northwest, with its forests, mountains, seas, and trees. Life has given me a love of nature, spirituality, “Gaia” (nurturing Mother Earth), chocolate, gardening, wildlife, song, dance – and it goes without saying, friends and family. And did I mention chocolate? I’ve loved writing poetry since childhood.
If you remember the 1960’s, you might relate to some of my “coming of age” poems in another blog, Summers of Love.
.You’re also invited to visit the blog of Gramma Krackers for some silliness. Child friendly.
.Thank you for visiting!

P.S. Header photo was taken by my son, Jason Judd, along the Oregon coast.

Hello Betty, my daughter is a junior in high school and her English assignment this week is to analyze your “Curiosity”. I guess now you know you’ve made an impact on the world with having your work part of high school English class. But I am confused; when I asked her about you she didn’t know much. She said you were a jazz singer and black??? What’s up with that??? Guess she was trying to make it something of a racial thing in the 60’s. I hope life brings you joy for many years to come.

Thank you for your comment on “Curiosity”. No, I’m neither black nor a jazz singer (??) This was just a poem about a home economics class back in the 60’s – nothing deep. But I appreciate your visiting my blog, and my best to you and your daughter.

Once again I have posted an acknowledgement, acceptance and appreciation of a fresh bunch of Awards that the “Ben Naga” site has been offered. To see details, go to http://bennaga.wordpress.com/2012/06/01/a-quartet-and-an-oxymoron/.
The reason I am informing you of this is that your site is included in the list of my nominees to continue the chain(s). My post contains details of what you need to do if you wish to participate.
I recognise that several folk may wish to say “Thanks, but no thanks”. If you are among them, let me repeat a slightly rephrased version of what I wrote there: –
“I know several people featured here don’t like to participate in the offering and receiving of awards. No blame; indeed I may join you one day. Meantime, if an unwanted invitation arrives at your site please ignore it, beyond knowing that it was sent to demonstrate the esteem in which I hold you and your site.”

Dear friend Michael, thank you again! You’re right, there are fewer and fewer of us who remember that era – the 60’s and 70’s. It’s still fresh to me. The summer of ’67 was especially formative – for me at least. I’m glad to know you were “there”. 🙂✌️

Hi Betty, Reneé here. I have finally after a year of changes posted something on my own site and then got to thinking about you!?! Where has Betty been. I’ve always enjoyed your posts so I am hoping you are well and that nothing has happened untoward. Among many changes I have moved into an older mobile (not sure how I feel about it yet) and was sick with the virus the day I moved in. Two months later I am still trying to pull up. I was exhausted from moving over a period of a month and so when I got sick it hit me hard. I do hope you have not been ill and hope your husband is well also. Take good care.

Hi Renee, It’s so good to hear from you! I’m really sorry to hear you’ve been suffering from the virus and its after effects. Hopefully you aren’t ending up with long covid (which is what I’ve had going on for 2+ years). Having to move is exhausting enough without being sick on top of that. I hope you can enjoy your new place once you get rested up. Are you still in the same area?
I’ve been taking a long break from WP as I haven’t the energy to keep up (because of the fibro and CFS — and covid, which just made everything worse). Finally became semi active on FB again after a long absence there – but it’s difficult keeping up there too! Are you on FB?
I hope you start feeling better soon, Renee. Glad you’re writing poetry still, and that you’ve returned to WP. (I would love to return – just need to get energized.) Please take good care – and let us try to stay in touch.

Betty, I was concerned you had been ill with the virus. Normally, I would not have been hit so hard with it but I was exhausted trying to get moved over the course of a month. I had stuff at my friend’s house, stuff in storage and even my car had stuff stored in it. I had to coordinate with those I felt could help me out and none of those but one younger couple were in good health. My oldest daughter helped me find the mobile and with her auto immune disorder of Lupus is never well. My friend, Dave, who I lived with most of the last year is disabled…basically, but he helped as much as he could. Ironic as it may seem, he actually contacted the virus from a friend and then unknowingly gave it to me. Because I was already exhausted I was down for the count the last day of my move. I’ve never lived in a mobile so had no idea…especially in the older ones…how difficult it is to maintain a good temperature. It was during our last really bad heat wave and there were nothing but blinds on the windows, no curtains, no way to cool anything except with fans. As soon as I felt I even could manage anything I ordered an A/C unit and started to hang curtains. But, yes energy level was at an all time low. You might remember I am on blood thinners for an artificial heart valve. I’ve always been a fatigued person but blood thinners causes that to be worse. I am house sitting presently at my oldest daughter’s new place on Harstine Island, which is just passed Shelton. I good getaway for me but I lost weight and still have to gain it back…very slow going. My place is on the edge of Centralia behind the Great Wolf Lodge. A small park of 20 mobiles and I am still getting used to it. At 18 it would have been an adventure but at 70…not so much. I don’t often go to FB and only to see my grandchildren’s photos…and my kids. I have five adult children but am really not close to any of them but my daughter’s. Yes, I would like to stay in touch. If FB is your preference I could do that for you. I have no energy for anything, Betty, but just shear will and determination as I am now living alone with my dog. Life always takes a twist and turn on my path and I have to just move along with it. I do hope you get better soon. It’s been two months since I first became ill and six weeks since I tested negative. Do take good care and I do hope you post again. Small steps, my friend, and you will get there. Here at my daughter’s place I’ve finally been able to walk outside a bit…short walks…but every step takes me to where I want to be.

P.S. Really good that you’ve been able to be outside some at your daughter’s place. That’s therapeutic in so many ways – for both of us.
