Do you remember

silver man,

when we were two wings

flying one dream

beneath warm quilts?

One night

I couldn’t breathe

and tore the covers off

when you couldn’t fathom

the unseen and threw

your pillow down.

We rolled

from the edges

of the bed

and let the feathers

settle

into the spread of time.

Still now and then

one catches my eyeIMG_5141

floating to the floor.

Willing

(Just another poem from 1992…)

.

Yea, I would be willing

to try to comprehend

the reason for your going

and I would not pretend

to care if I did not,

to love if it were false

and it would not offend me

if it were just my loss

but others love you also

and other hearts will bleed

when they find out you’ve gone

without farewell. For we all need

connections that are solid

and love not fickle, true –

for love is what we live for

and I’m willing that for you.
