What is it about

the wailing

train at night?

I would hop

a car with just enough

hay to make a pillow

lie there swaying

full moon strobing

through the open doors

can’t tell if it churns

north or south

I’m just passing through.

(an old one from the ’70’s)

Fly,  homing pigeon –

high above effects,

blood-stained battlegrounds,

crackling casinos,

robbers of graves,

the sweating of small stuff.

Ready, aim, soar

above the tallest tree

to the mountain top.

Fly home, Beloved –

your wings were made for this.
