She floats free,
a rainbow bubble
rising on
Vivaldi
over ruby-studded waves
chasing after him.

There are times
love is a fine rain
misting down
all for naught
evaporating before
it can hit the ground
.
but sometimes
love peels back the rain
exposing sun
sending heat
palpitations to the earth
handing us a rose.

Day and night
we must remember
take nothing
for granted
everything is in flux
love alone endures.

Fresh paper
on the old clipboard
new gel pens
with blue ink
ready to cook up a poem
waiting for my muse.

Sehome Hill
was the place to go
after dark
college kids
parked for hours in old sedans
making memories.
.
Met a guy
took me to “The Web”
beatniks read
poetry
argued relativity
high on espresso.

Sparkling views
close to waterfalls
Mount Baker
Puget Sound
winding drives on Chuckanut
easy on the curves.

Late at night
she weaves poetry
silken words
feather spun
tethered to uncertainty
loving anyway.

She sorts through
ribbons and buttons
bobby pins
crocheted lace
memories of her mother
tied up in a bow.
